Chartek scoops first awards for Kashagan

International Paint Limited secures sizeable fireproofing supply contract for Kashagan Field Brentwood, Essex – November 16 2005 – International Paint Limited, the leading supplier of epoxy passive fire protection materials into the oil and gas industry, has secured a major award for the supply of its Chartek® 7 material for the Kashagan Field currently under development in Kazakhstan.

The award relates to the supply of materials for the protection of pipe racks which will ultimately be located on the offshore island as part of the massive $27 billion investment currently being undertaken by AGIP and its partners in the region.

These pipe racks which will be pre-fabricated in Baku, Azerbaijan and Astrakhan, Russia will then be transported to the final construction site for installation in 2006. Chartek 7 was chosen as it has been proven to lend itself to major pre-construction projects of this nature and is in full compliance with the project specification. In addition the product’s ease of application will also allow the application subcontractors the best chance of meeting the project’s demanding schedule.

Chartek 7 is the leading epoxy passive fire protection material supplied into the hydrocarbon industry worldwide and this award re-affirms this status. The scope of supply, which will be delivered over the next six months, is in excess of 25000m2.

Additionally, International Paint Limited is expected to receive further awards for this project over the coming weeks for supply during 2006.
