The Freeport LNG is the largest LNG receiving terminal to be constructed in the U.S. in more than 20 years. A first for the LNG industry is the use of advanced fire protection supplied by International Protective Coatings.  

The decision to specify Chartek® 1709 fire protection was championed by Freeport owners, ConoccoPhillips. A specific requirement from ConoccoPhillips was to raise the fire protection to one hour to protect the supporting steel from premature collapse in the case of fire.

 With such a wealth of experience, Chartek was able to meet this requirement and 150,000 square feet (13,935m2) was coated.
