Wave & Tidal – an emerging market

The Wave & Tidal power generation market is rapidly expanding with many companies heading quickly towards the commercialisation stage, multi device arrays being permitted and investment from the power giants such as Siemens, Mitsubishi and Alstom.

In this young industry International Paint have taken a lead and have coated many of the early prototype, demo and full-size devices and we have been able to apply our extensive knowledge in other fields to the wave & tidal industry.

Wave & Tidal Brochure

Our new brochure explains how we’ve been coating offshore and submerged structures for over 40 years, in some of the world’s harshest environments. Discover some of our most prominent track records and our recommended systems for wave and tidal locations.

With over 40 years’ experience of protecting assets in harsh offshore and subsea environments International Paint have the knowledge, product range and track record to ensure that your assets are safe from corrosion.

As well as protection from corrosion it is imperative to consider the efficiency of the moving parts of your wave or tidal device. For example the blades of a tidal turbine rely heavily upon efficiency through the water and reduction in drag. The smoothness of the blade is key – we estimate a 2-5% increase in drag can lead to a reduction in torque of 20% or more.
