Dramatic Productivity Gains with Interzinc® 22
International Paint, the world’s leading producer of protective coatings, has launched a new series of fast-cure zinc silicate coatings that offer dramatic productivity gains to fabrication customers. The Interzinc® 22 Series can be recoated in less than five hours, which can cut overall finishing time by more than a full day when using a typical three coat zinc / epoxy / polyurethane system.
"The technology used in the Interzinc 22 Series results in much faster recoat times than conventional zinc silicates," said Ian Fletcher, Worldwide Oil and Gas Market Manager. "This allows faster throughput of coated steel, greatly enhancing productivity."
In addition, the four different levels of zinc dust available means that the Interzinc 22 range offers the flexibility to tailor specifications to a variety of standards and customers’ end-use requirements, Fletcher said.
The Interzinc 22 Series is available with 85%, 80%, 77% or 65% zinc dust content and all have low lead (<100 parts per million) content. The 85% and 80% zinc content products are compliant with the Norsok M501 standard, allowing offshore use; the 85% zinc product is also Class B Slip Coefficient approved for use on slip-critical surfaces.
Feedback from customers has been positive. "The new-fast cure Interzinc 22 is the best inorganic zinc silicate we have ever sprayed," said Jason Niles, Shipping, Blast & Paint Supervisor J&G Steel Corporation, a major steel fabricator based in Oklahoma, USA.
