40 years of performance: Hutton TLP case study and the impact of highly loaded lamellar glass flake in offshore coatings.

Access our webinar and exclusive whitepaper

In the offshore environment, for both O&G and Wind energy, there is an ever increasing need to extend the lifetime of assets to 40 years or more. The main drivers for this are to reduce the need for expensive maintenance in difficult to reach offshore locations, and to reduce the environmental impact these assets have over their lifetime.

In this paper we explore the impact on performance that varying levels of lamellar glass flake loading has on the durability of a given coating technology. Testing focused on mechanical performance as well as corrosion resistance and assessing extent of failure observed. We will also correlate how one such coating technology performs in the real world with a 40-year case study measuring the visual appearance, adhesion, cross sectional optical microscopy and electrical impedance spectroscopy (EIS).
